Scout and Explorer Cardboard Canoe Race 2023

About the Scout and Explorer Cardboard Canoe Race….

• Our Cardboard Canoe Race welcomes Scout, Explorer and Leaders teams to enter the competition.
• Boats should be made from cardboard (joining instructions below) and most importantly, we ask teams to be creative with their design and theme!
• There is awards for the fastest times, titanic (sinking) award and most creative design.

What you need to know….

• When: Saturday 17th June 2023
• Time: 12.30pm to 4.30pm
• Where: New Venue – Trafford Water Sports Centre (Sale Water Park), Rifle Road, Sale, M33 2LX
• Cost: £15.00 per team.
• Badges Working Towards: Teamwork Challenge, Skills Challenge and Team Leader Challenge
• Team Information: Teams of between 2 and 4 from the same section (Scouts, Explorers or Leaders). Each participant can only be in one team.
• Equipment: Please click the link to download the Joining Instructions document. Safety equipment will be provided by the water sports centre. You must provide your paddle which may only be used to propel the boat.
• Parking: There is parking available at the Metrolink Car Park at the entrance to the Water Park, a public car park is adjacent to Jackson’s Boat (payment by meter or free if a customer of Jackson’s Boat)  and there are free public car parks around the water sports centre. Strictly no cars to be parked on the car parks immediately adjacent to the Trafford Water sports centre. (Number 2 on the map in the Centre Leaflet). Vehicles transporting the canoes will be able to access a small car park adjacent to the slip way to drop off. Scout volunteers will marshal this.
  
• Refreshments: Young people and volunteers should bring their own refreshments. There will be some refreshments available at the on-site cafe and restaurant.
• Clothing: Swimwear, Water Shoes and Necker. Participants will also need a towel, spare dry clothing and warm coat.
• Permission Forms: Section Leaders must arrange their own permission forms, ensuring they are available on the day and disposing of them afterwards.
• How to Book: Complete the below form and follow the payment instructions. Closing date is Friday 9th June 2023 at 8pm.
• Payment Information: Each group should be make their payment in full to the below account details by Friday 9th June 2023. The cost is £15.00 per team and groups should follow the payment reference instructions below.
