About the Scout and Explorer Cardboard Canoe Race….

• Our Cardboard Canoe Race welcomes Scout, Explorer and for the first time in 2022, Leaders teams to enter the competition.
• Boats should be made from cardboard (joining instructions below) and most importantly, we ask teams to be creative with their design and theme!
• There is awards for the fastest times, titanic (sinking) award and most creative design.

What you need to know….

• When: Saturday 18th June 2022
• Time: 12.30pm to 4.30pm
• Where: Salford Watersports Centre. 15 The Quays, Salford, M50 3SQ.
• Cost: £25.00 per team.
• Badges Working Towards: Teamwork Challenge, Skills Challenge and Team Leader Challenge
• Team Information: Teams of between 2 and 4 from the same section (Scouts, Explorers or Leaders). Each participant can only be in one team.
• Equipment: Please click the link to download the Joining Instructions document. Safety equipment will be provided by the water sports centre. You must provide your own oar and the paddle may only be used to propel the boat. Oars may be made of any material. Rafts or flat boats which use legs for propulsion are not allowed.
• Parking: There is no parking at the Water Sports Centre and all boats will need to be carried from the parking area which is only a short distance away on the free overflow car park next to the Premier Inn or on Waterfront Quay. Cars with trailers will be allowed on at the end of the event to collect wet cardboard.                 
• Refreshments: Young people and volunteers should bring their own refreshments. There will be some refreshments available locally to the water sports centre.
• Clothing: Swimwear, Water Shoes and Necker. Participants will also need a towel, spare dry clothing and warm coat.
• Permission Forms: Section Leaders must arrange their own permission forms, ensuring they are available on the day and disposing of them afterwards.
• How to Book: Complete the below form and follow the payment instructions. Closing date is Friday 11th June 2022 at 8pm.
• Payment Information: Each group should be make their payment in full to the below account details by Friday 11th June 2022. The cost is £25.00 per team and groups should follow the payment reference instructions below.
