This year Dunham Park Scout Camp celebrates their centenary year on the Stamford Estate, now part of National Trust Dunham Massey. The campsite has been located in four different areas of the estate but has been at Farm Walk off Dunham Road since 1981. In it’s current location the campsite has survived through two closure periods; foot and mouth back in the early 2000s and 2020-2021 for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier this year the campsite held a competition for young people and volunteers to design their centenary badge, the winning designer was Thomas, a Scout from 1st Timperley. This badge is available from the campsite shop.

You can find our more about the history of the campsite by visiting the DPSC History Blog (www.dunhamscoutcamp100.org.uk) set up by the Friends of Dunham Park Scout Camp.

In recent years the campsite has seen a number of developments including a new adventure playground, refurbishments to the indoor accommodation and investment in activity equipment. This year the campsite has installed a new zip wire and create ‘Centenary Square’ complete with stone compass, a timeline of our history, canopy and seating. All of this development would not have been possible without support from the Friends of Dunham Park Scout Camp, Greater Manchester West Scouts and 17th Stretford (QUEST) Scouts, in addition to the hard work of their volunteer team. All of these developments future proof and continue to develop the campsite for use by future generations of young people.

The campsite held our County AGM on Tuesday 6th June 2022 which was an opportunity for us to celebrate the campsite’s centenary with the history presented by Friends of DPSC Chair, Paul Wilkinson. This was also the first chance of volunteers to catch up with others for our first face-to-face AGM since 2019.
