Doing the Award but not through Scouting?

Scouting welcomes anyone who wants to complete sections of their award through our organisation.

We can provide opportunities for you to get involved with for all sections of the award.

  • Service Section: There are opportunities to volunteer your time as a Young Leader, Adult Leader, Section Assistant and Group Supporter. The level of training needed will depend on the role you want to volunteer for.  All adult positions in Scouting are subject to a satisfactory CRB disclosure.
  • Skill Section: Scouting can give you the opportunity to develop and follow a skill in many areas.  From playing an instrument in a marching band to developing your navigational skills on the mountains or flying a glider, there's something in Scouting for everyone.
  • Physical Recreation: The main focus of the Scout Programme is centred on the Outdoors and Adventure.  If it's a chance to start hill-walking, mountain biking or sailing a dinghy Scouting can help you achieve your goals.
  • Expeditions: Whatever level of Award you are completing, Scouting can provide all the training and assessment needs for you to complete the expedition section of your Award.

Scouting Offers you the chance to achieve your potential

Take the Challenge with the Scouts

To find out how you can complete your award requirements through Scouting firstly visit the Scouts website and click on join or volunteer to find out where Scouting exists locally to you.

Alternatively if you live in Greater Manchester West and want to get involved with a local group, contact us and we'll point you in the right direction.

If you want to change from your current Operating Authority to The Scout Association simply complete the Change of Operating Authority form at the back of your Record Book.

You'll need the stamp or signature from a representative of your current Operating Authority and have completed the progress to date table.  Once completed send the form to us at the address below.

Don't forget to write your reference number (e.g. a number like 01/123456) on your form as without this we won't be able to process your change of Operating Authority.

Don't worry if you haven't got a reference number, we can re-issue you with a new one.  It should be in the front of your Record Book along with your name and address.
