With  the  "More girls join scouts" census headline still in the news a patrol full of girls from 88^th Salford won the 2011 Lord Derby competition. This was held on Saturday 16^th April at Dunham Scout camp site on another specially ordered sunny day. This year 5 patrols from 3^rd/1^st Eccles, 43^rd Salford, 88^th Salford, 2^nd Davyhulme and 2^nd Stretford (Gorse Hill) entered do such bases as blind skiing, sawing a piece of wood with a bow saw control by ropes, knotting with spaghetti, blind fold trail. 2^nd Davyhulme broke the most eggs when trying to get them across the rectangle but came second in the competition as a whole. 43^rd Salford came 3^rd.
