2012 Scout and Explorers Shooting Competition

On the weekend of 14 and 15 January, 45 scouts from across the county gathered in Altrincham to take part in the second Greater Manchester West Shooting competition. 2011 Hiking Competition

The 2011 GMW Hiking Competition was based around the Bowley Scout Campsite being held on the 15th October. Again this was a combined event with 5 scout teams and 3 explorer teams. The teams were lucky enough to have bright sunshine with most completing the 10 mile hike with a few deviations for some. 14th Sale gain Entrepeneur Award

2010 Omega Camp

On the weekend of the 10th to 12th September 41 Scouts from the Sale district survived the Omega Camp. This is a survivial camp held at Giant's Seat campsite, where they had to build shelters, scavange for food, gut and skin rabbits, identify what birds you can eat from their feathers plus cook. 11 Teams from the 7th Sale, 17th Sale and 2nd Brooklands entered the competition. 2010 Scout and Explorer camping and backwoods competitions

Both of the competitions for the explorers and scouts were held in at Bispham Hall on the last w/e in June. 2nd Davyhulme won the Scout's camping and Explorer's backwoods cooking competitions, 3rd/1st Eccles won the Scout's Backwood competition and 1st Flixton won the Explorer's camping competition. 7 scout team and 5 explorer teams entered. 2010 Swinton and Pendlebury Orienteering Competition

The Swinton and Pendlebury District Scout Orienteering day was held on Saturday 3rd July 2010 at Haigh Hall. The day was a great success and the weather was warm and sunny. Winegums appear on BBC website

2010 St. Georges parade - Windsor

Having just been awarded the Silver Acorn I was lucky enough to be able to attend the St. Georges day parade at Windsor on the 25th April this year. Prince Charles (for the first time ever) took the salute with the Chief Scout Bear Grylls in attendance. 2010 Lord Derby

The 2010 GMW Lord Derby competition where teams fought for the John Bell trophy was held on the 10th April at the Middlewood scout campsite. Like last year I ordered perfect sunny weather and the 5 teams enjoyed the 9 bases put by leaders of the county. The 2010 2MAD4 Leaders was held at Linnet Clough on the last weekend in March. As tradition has it this being the time where the clocks go forward. 2009 Lord Derby Competition

The 2009 Lord Derby competition had 8 teams competing in 11 bases in April. These included making camp doughnuts, putting up a tent blindfold, skiing with carrying water and getting the team 1 metre off the ground.
