The county is very active and we hope this website will give you an insight into what we do.

Cub Chess

Chess 1

On Saturday 6th March we held the Annual County Cub Chess Competiton hosted by Stretford District at St. Matthew's Church Hall.

The Cubs had a fantastic afternoon, visiting the 'Tuck Shop', playing Chess and also visting Chess websites.  They played several rounds and kept going throughout the afternoon and whilst the final results were being compiled they were able to watch two of adjuicators play a speed game - I know that there was no way I could even keep up with what was going on but the Cubs knew and were able to watch and learn.

The Results were -

Altrincham & District 33½ points; Sale & District 24 points; Swinton & Pendlebury District 20½ points; Wigan District 18½ points; Stretford District 18 points; Urmston District 14½ points.

Our thanks go to Alan Roberts and his team who organised the event.

Next year this event is due to be hosted by the Wigan Metro.
