On 20th and 21st March 2021, we held our first County Virtual Camp! We had a whole range of activities for each section.

Beavers got stuck into activities including obstacle courses, making campfire cupcakes, den building, indoor caving with Scoutadelic and a whole range of craft, cooking and experiment activities.

Cubs had a whole day of Science based activities and experiments, including exploding rockets with Scoutadelic, glitter volcano and balloon powered cars. They were also able to create their own movies, make smores and take part in some first aid based activties.

Scouts had a theme around preparation for camping and expeditions, activities included rucksack packing, maps and navigation, and learning about campsite layouts including creating their own model. Scouts were also able to make camp doughnuts, learn how to soap carve and practice their knot and lashing skills.

Explorers were able to brush up on their Scouting skills with Steve the Scouts, take part in an escape room challenge and learn how to make and cook in a cardboard oven.

Volunteers had some sessions too, including sharing virtual and socially distanced programme ideas, learning about growing the section and recruiting volunteers and a Q&A about adult training.

On the Saturday evening, Syston Scout Group ran a virtual campfire and lots of our young people and volunteers were able to join in by singing along in their living rooms and gardens, some even toasted marshmallows on a fire. Following the campfire was a disco hosted by Scout Radio.

All our activities are still available on our Virtual Camp webpage.

Thank-you to our Virtual Camp partners for providing fun activities!
