Well done to all the teams that took part in the GMW scout and explorer hiking competitions on Saturday 29th Sept. 6 scout and 5 explorer teams hiked on a route around the West Pennines Moor on windy but mainly dry day, except under find foot where it was very boggy at times. They went from Bibby’s Farm to White Coppice onto Great Hill, then across Spitler’s Edge to Hordon Stoops. The explorers then took a deviation up a steep climb to Winter Hill summit and back down again. A few teams lost their bearings a bit to the next checkpoint at Jepsons Gate. They then did a checkpoint with a difference, abseiling down the Anglezarke quarry to clip their card, before making their way back to Bibby’s Farm.
Congratulations to 1st West Timperley who won the scout comp and 3rd Hindley for winning the explorer comp. Also congratulations to 1st Standish for winning the new team work/spirit trophy.
